See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1
I was loitering in a hot shower a number of years ago when the magnitude of God raining down love soaked me through and through. I’ve never forgotten it.
It was like he was saying, “I don’t just love you a little bit, or when you’re good enough to love, I love you greatly – non-stop – like a never-ending warm and soothing shower.”
“What’s more,” he said, “My love for you never runs out (not like when the hot water of this shower soon will).” It’s forever. Like a father loves a son.
He’s a father who loves to spend time with his child. Shower time. Any time.
We get to know each other. Every day.
Because I’m his child. That is who I am.
You may not know me if you don’t know him.
Like the world does not know us, because it did not know him.
But I’ll spend my time with the one who knows me, instead of the ones who don’t.
Just to see what great love my father wants to lavish on me, that I should be called a child of God.
