Inseparable Love

Day 19 of the 28-Day #LoveChallenge

god's inseparable love

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Like so many of the biblical heroes and people of God, the apostle Paul was an amazing figure. He was in the company of those who basked in the presence and love of the Lord regardless of life’s circumstances – whether positive or negative, up or down, good or bad.

Think too of Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, David, and Peter. All of whom had their own personal trials and tribulations, along with soaring highs.

All of whom gained the perspective of the inseparable love of God despite their circumstances.

They remind me of the Psalmist who wrote the following in Psalm 84:10

Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

So it’s not what happens to us that makes the difference but how we think about and respond to what happens to us that determines the outcome.

And the outcome for our #LoveChallenge is to believe and trust that nothing can separate us from God’s love…

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
Lord Almighty,
blessed is the one who trusts in you.
Psalm 84:11-12

Preaching on the life of Joseph from Genesis 42-45, pastor Troy Dobbs of Grace Church made the point, “Faithfulness to God does pay.” And he quoted one commentary that put it this way: “God does not always pay at the end of every day, but in the end, God does pay.”
