Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39
Today is the first day of February – the month of Valentine’s Day – the month of love. What better time than now, in these uncertain and challenging times to focus on love?
Instead of labeling each other let’s start loving each other. It’s easy to love those who are close to us, who agree and align with our political ideology. It’s harder to love those who are different from us, or who we find difficult to agree with. But that is the kind of love our heavenly Father calls us to.
Love for the different and difficult is a sign we are maturing in Christ.
Will you join me and make the month of February 2017 the month of love? Let’s try on love for 28 days and see what happens.
For each day in the month of February on this blog and on the BibleHabit Twitter and Facebook channels, Scripture will be shared in the form of a verse image to remind and encourage us to #LoveGod, #LoveOthers, or both.
I encourage you to share these verse images with your friends.
Whether you’re a democrat, a republican, independent or none of the above, take this love challenge to heart. Instead of looking down at each other and tearing each other down, pointing fingers, and causing harm, let’s seek the grace and Spirit of God to do a work of love in our hearts.
